Cats are a much more sensitive pet than dogs. The food they eat is very specific as you will want to avoid them getting diabetes or becoming overweight. Many of us when shopping for pet products, we include cat food, often times opting for the dry cat food and dry dog food for the dogs. This is sometimes an unexpected expense that we think we cannot evade. Have you ever thought of making your own Dry cat food? If you don’t know how, here is a simple and very popular recipe for kibbles.
The ingredients needed are:
- 3 cups of whole wheat flour , 2 cups soy flour
- 1 cup of wheat germ
- 15 ounces of mackerel or salmon
- 5 table spoons of vegetable oil
- 1cup of corn meal
- 1 cup of non- fat organic milk
- ½ cup of brewers’ yeast
- 1 table spoon of cod liver oil
- 2 cups of water.
Put the dry ingredients in a bowl big enough to contain them and mix. Squash the fish in a separate bowl and add the oil and water to it. Pour this mixture in the first bowl. Knead and roll the dough with your hands until it is 4inches thick. Mound it onto a cookie sheet and using a cutter, make out any shapes. Bake in the oven for close to 25 minutes (a shorter time than it takes to make dry dog food) at a temperature of 35 degrees. Ensure the food is evenly browned by tossing them every so often while in the oven. Cool them and serve them to your kitty.
This is an amazing way of ensuring that your feline feeds right, getting all the protein, fats, and carbohydrates it needs. This is also a good way of curing a cat of obesity. An added advantage is that it is cheaper than purchasing processed food. So, cut on your expenses on pet products by making your own cat food. It is also a way of venturing into something new.
